If you know UCB doesn’t pay, and you want to be paid, do a show somewhere else. UCB doesn’t need your “very successful” audience of 20 people if you’re going to whine about it online.

UCB is not the end goal. UCB is what you use to hone your art. It’s a school. The theaters are part of the school. I don’t know what a “professional stand up show” would be doing at UCB. The shows at UCB should be seen as workshops. You use UCB to workshop your craft and material. If UCB’s your end goal, you are doing it wrong if you want to be a professional comedian.

You knew the deal when you got a run at the theater. Why are you acting totally surprised? If you wanted to have a show where everyone gets paid, you should have done the work and researched more theaters.

You chose UCB for a reason. Do you remember the reason? You’re just pissy because you got comfortable at UCB and you realized that UCB can’t take you and your show to the next level for you. I hope you learned you have to work for things to get to where you want to be instead of relying on others to get you there.

Congratulations on using UCB to gain confidence and to learn how to produce a stand up show well enough to take your show to a “payment level.” I sincerely wish you good luck on your stuff in the future. I hope you learned to work harder and that you succeed. Stop shitting on the theater that you used to get you where you are now.
